Challenge Scholars: a partnership between the Grand Rapids Community Foundation, area colleges/universities, and west side schools; focuses on five components--Academic Achievement, School Attendance, Parent Engagement, Scholarships, and Big Dreams (enrichment programs)
Believe 2 Become:a collaborative partnership between hundreds of organizations in the city of Grand Rapids; provides academic supports, summer programs, and real world opportunities to student participants.
LOOP: free, extended learning opportunity that provides academic support (homework assistance, tutoring, etc.) to elementary and middle school students. LOFT is the high school sister program.
Reading Rewards: a free online reading incentive program that provides reading logs and encouragement to students. The GRPS-specific Reading Rewards challenge can be found here.
Synergy ParentVUE and StudentVUE: tools to stay informed about student progress; individual logins allow parents and students to access grades, attendance, and assignment information; also provides opportunities to communicate directly with teachers. NewsELA: a free, online article database that provides thousands of news articles written at a broad range of reading levels (K-12) and corresponding questions aligned to the Common Core; excellent literacy tool.
Khan Academy: a free, online, and personal learning dashboard that provides exercises, instructional videos, and test preparation strategies in ALL major subject areas for elementary, middle, and high school; partnership with The College Board allows students to link PSAT results to dashboard for individualized lessons.
