Multimedia Food Studies
In this unit, we will explore the innumerable problems with the American and world food systems. Our studies will focus on issues such as factory farming, food deserts, food-born illness and health concerns, the interconnection of the government and major food corporations, malnutrition, and dietary differences as determined by geographic and socioeconomic status. This unit is designed to engage multiple learning styles. As such, we will watch documentaries and TED talks, read articles, do online research, interpret pictures, analyze maps and graphs, participate in discussions, work in groups, and complete a synthesis project.
