WELCOME!
Greetings eleventh grade students and families. On this site you will find an abundance of resources related to the work for this course. In-class activities, homework assignments, PowerPoint presentations, videos, and supplemental information have been made available to you here. Throughout the course of this school year, we will study the evolution of American literature, looking to establish connections between the literature and the historical context from which it originates. You can expect that our investigation of American authors will lead to writers of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and ideas. As a result, it is important that every student respects the opinions expressed throughout the class. We will also spend time preparing for the ACT, Work Keys, and MME standardized tests. This preparation will involve skills development in the following areas: close and critical reading, evidence-based analysis of literary and information texts, grammar and writing mechanics, and persuasive writing. These tests, which measure a student's level of college readiness, align with the common core standards of our school, district, and nation. An overview of those anchor standards are provided below. However, for a more detailed description of the eleventh grade Common Core Standards addressed in this course, please visit the Michigan Department of Education here. |
